Sports Field

The Queens Park Sports Field is situated on the southern half of the Park. The field is leased by City Council to the Queens Park Soccer Club, who also use the clubhouse on the raised section just north of Nelson Mandela Boulevard.

There is a basketball court in the South Eastern corner, between the pedestrian gate at the very top of Queens Park Avenue and the sliding vehicle gate about 100m further down.

In the South-Western corner of the Soccer Field is an "trimpark" exercise facility.

Access to the Sports Field is via a gate at the top of Queens Park Avenue (near the ramp that leads up the bridge that crosses the freeway) in the South-Eastern corner and another gate at the top of The Avenue in the South Western corner. A pedestrian path links these two gates.

Vehicle access is via a sliding gate in Queens Park Avenue. The gate is controlled by the Queens Park Soccer Club, and is opened when soccer practises and matches are held on the field. People can then park on the track in front of the clubhouse at these times. If that area is full (often on big soccer match days) visitors can park in the upper reaches of Queens Park Avenue. There is another gate that connects to the Dog Park, on the northern border of the Sports Field, but this gate is currently locked by the Soccer Club.
